HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006-023 Resolution Est. the Role of the Parks, Trails & Open Spaces Task ForceMember Cavanaugh introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2006-23 RESOLUTION ESTABISHING THE ROLE OF THE PARKS, TRAILS AND OPEN SPACES TASK FORCE WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted a Comprehensive Plan to promote the orderly, economic and safe development and utilization of land within the city; and WHEREAS, the park commission of the city of Medina has recommended, upon research of the city's natural features data and resources and tour of selected sites in the Conceptual Greenway Corridor, the formation of an Open Spaces Task Force; and WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has, in the past, appointed commissions for special studies, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina, Minnesota, that it should and hereby does establish an Open Spaces Task Force comprised of seven voting members including three citizen stakeholders, two park commissioners, one planning commissioner with an alternate and one city councilmember; and BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Open Spaces Task Force is to administer the following duties: 1. Listen to the citizens of Medina about their natural resource concerns. 2. Represent the different stakeholders of Medina. 3. Advocate and design an open, inclusive, informative, and deliberative community discussion. 4. Educate citizens about existing natural resources, the conceptual greenway corridor, and land use practices within the corridor. 5. Indicate where future parks, trails and open spaces and their uses within the conceptual greenway corridor. 6. Reach consensus about recommendations to advise the city council. 7. Present a report of the findings to the park commission, planning commission and city council. 8. Create open spaces without causing hardship or loss to landowners. Dated: March 21, 2006 ce D.
