SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF
MAY 17,2017
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of May 17, 2017 .
BACKGROUND:
On May 17 , 2017 , the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled
meeting .
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the May 17, 2017 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1 . ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Rosso , Vance , Chairman Georgine
Absent: Commissioner-None
Excused: Commissioner-Haddad , Vice -Chairman Baroldi
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the April 19, 2017
meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for April 2017 .
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS -None

4. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL)
FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AND CONCESSION
STAND AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR ALL STAR GAMES AND PRACTICES
FROM JUNE 10-JULY 21, 2017
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the request which included
extension of park hours to 11 p.m . for completion of tournament games.
TCALL is to pay all staff costs after 10 p .m.
B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
(TCASA) FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT LIVE OAK
PARK FOR POST SEASON PRACTICES FROM JUNE 1 -30 , 2017
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the request.
C . APPROVAL OF MASTER TREE LIST
The Parks and Recreation Comm ission approved the proposed Master Tree
List as developed by staff. The Master Tree List provides for up to three
species of tree for each block in the City. The City Council will consider
adoption of a resolution to confirm the Master Tree List at an upcoming
Council meeting .
D. PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 4 , ARTICLE D, TREE
PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION , OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL
CODE
The Commission tabled the item to a future meeting .
5. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
A . The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for
May 2017.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Approval of the Commission actions of May 17, 2017 furthers the City's Strategic Goal
of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17 City Budget.
