April 18th 1946
Special Meeting. -
A special meeting was called by the Mayor, for the rurpose
of considering the Housing situation for the Town of Wellaburg.
Piayor Vahlsing presided and all councilmen present .
A Committee of the Commercial Club was present and
reported that they had investigated the matter of securing
Houseing Units for Veterans, and explained the proceedure
for the Council to make, in order to secure Government Barracks,
if available,for the purpose of housing Veterans.
After duly considering the matter the council felt it
their duty to go forward with the matter.
Councilman Heddens introduced the f ol�owing Resoluti on
and moved its adoption. second by Okones.
RESOLUTION.
Be it resolved , whereas there exists in this
Town a severe Housing shortage, and there are no living
quarters or rooms available for our returning Veterans and
their f amilys. That we need at once, living quarters for at
least 10 or 12 family's who are all Veterans, and whereas
there is made available from the Government, vacand Army
barracks which can and are being converted into living quarters
for Veterans ;
Therefor; -
Be it resolved by the Council of the Town of Wellsburg
I az, that application be made to the F.P.H.A. for this
District, to secure some of these barracks for this Town, to be
made Available for our returned Veterans.
That the Town will assume all Liability, and responsibility
for proper rules and regulations, and all mattare/ required
by the Fed Housing Authority, ahving grounds available, also
proper sewer and water and light facilities "
That the Clerk send a copy of this Resolution to
Mr Orville R Olmstead, Director FPHA Chicago, I11.
Passe, and adopted -
Roll Call- Ayes- yBoeke, Heddens- Hook- Junker- Okones
Nays none.
There being no other business it was moved to adjourn.

Special meeting.
Mayor Vahlshng called a special meeting of the Council
for the purpose of considering an application for Fed. aid
in providing Housing facilities for Veterans.
Councilman present- Heddehs- Hook- Junker and
Okones-
It was moved by councilman Junker second by Hook, that
the Mayor sign and make out application for the Town to
the F.P H A. this District , to secure Army barracks to be
converted into living quarters for Veterans.
Motio n carried.
There being no further business council adjourned.
