HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006-033 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 403Member Cavanaugh introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2006-33 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 403 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 403, an ordinance amending sections 820.17, 825.07 and 826.25 of the city's code of ordinances regarding certain lot width and setback requirements in the city's rural residential areas; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 403 is 3 pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the amended ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 403 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 403. The ordinance adds a more complete definition of "lot width" to both the subdivision regulations and the zoning ordinance and for the first time defines the term "flag lot" in both ordinances. The amendment increases the minimum building setback from all property lines to 50' within the city's rural residential districts. The amendment increase the minimum lot width from 110' to 300' in the rural residential districts. Although the minimum lot width will be increased for newly created lots, lots conforming on March 1, 2006 to the previous standards will remain conforming under the new ordinance. The ordinance will become effective prior to the expiration of the rural residential moratorium on April 24, 2006.
