Residential 20 MPH is Plenty AM & PM Details Harding Avenue & 96 Street/ Crosswalk 00 All other Collins Avenue Enforcement Results 00 0 t Summary of Activities and Events Code Enforcement Code Enforcement Officers (CEOs)assisted the Patrol Division by providing support services to dispatch personnel and patrol officers engaged in operations related to the Surfside building collapse. CEOs manned phones and delivered supplies. CEOs patrolled the Village in high visibility mode. When needed, CEOs assisted in traffic posts. Criminal Investigations Detectives investigated the alleged theft of a $20,000 bracelet. The victim's family believed caregivers may have been responsible for the theft. The report was filed by the victim's son after the victim's death. When detectives interviewed family members, they learned the family found the bracelet while sorting through the victim's belongings. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID)conducted a follow-up investigation regarding the theft of a $5,000 purse from a retailer at the Bal Harbour Shops. Detectives reviewed the available video footage of the theft and captured images of the suspects. Detectives used the images for Need -to -Identify flyers which they distributed to other law enforcement agencies. The identity of the suspects remains unknown at this time. All CID personnel assisted the Patrol Division in manning various traffic posts related to the Surfside building collapse. Marine Patrol / Beach Safety Officer Details Stops Citations Warnings Arrests Reports AOA Contacts 05 01 04 00 00 00 56 Remarks Marine Patrol: 'Beach Safety Detail: Marine and Beach Patrol Officers joined Patrol Operations in providing police services related to the Surfside building collapse. Both marine units manned traffic posts in efforts to keep traffic flowing. Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service 06-27-2021 Suspicious Incident 9800 Block of Collins Avenue Officers responded to an anonymous complaint of gunshots at a beachside condominium. Officers arrived to investigate but found no evidence of gunfire. Interviews with condo staff revealed no one heard gunshots or saw anything suspicious. No other incidents were reported. 06-29-2021 Theft 9700 Collins Avenue A customer at a restaurant in the Bal Harbour Shops ordered a meal and later refused to pay for the items he consumed. A dispute between management and the customer led to police responding to the scene. The suspect defied the restaurant's request for payment and told officer he would rather go to jail. The suspect was arrested and charged with theft. 06-30-2021 Mental Health Crisis 9600 Block of Collins Avenue A mentally distressed person approached officers on patrol and informed them she was hearing voices. The woman said she suffered from depression and asked to see a psychiatrist. Although the woman made no suicidal comments, officers were concerned for her mental wellbeing.
