Remarks
Marine Patrol Units assisted the Patrol Division during the Surfside Building Collapse deployments and
in preparation for Tropical Storm Elsa. Units have patrolled the roadways, assisted at the Family
Assistance Center at the Sea View Hotel, and maintained watch over the beaches and jetty areas.
Marine Patrol:
After the passing of Tropical Storm Elsa, Marine Patrol officers washed the boat and flushed the
motors in preparation for normal operations. Unit personnel have been assisting the Patrol Division
in enhanced patrols.
Beach Safety Detail:
Beach Officers ensured turtle nests along the beaches were properly roped off and protected.
The Beach Officers assisted a beach guest in locating a missing cellular phone. They also responded
to a medical emergency on the hardpack and assisted Fire Rescue personnel by using the mule
vehicle to transport the patient to the north parking lot.
Beach Officers worked with hotel and condo staff to ensure all swim flags were properly posted with
the swimming status for the day. As Tropical Storm Elsa approached, Beach Officers ensured all
flags were changed to red and closed the Jetty due to inclement weather.
After the passing of Tropical Storm Elsa, Beach Officers conducted an inventory of life rings and
rescue disks along the shoreline.
