Officer Waisman out sick three days.
Marine patrol conducted daily patrols beachside and bayside areas in and around Bal Harbour. Our
Marine Patrol police initiated 8 vessel stops resulting in one citation and seven warnings. In addition,
they had a total of 99 contacts during the week.

The BSO spoke with a total of 18 fishermen that were using existing holes on the jetty to prop
multiple fishing poles. The fishermen were advised of the potential hazards present to others
enjoying the jetty and the potential harm to the integrity of the jetty itself. All rods were removed.
Complaints of garbage on the north end of the beach was received by members of the previous
midnight shift. The BSO spoke addressed the matter with Ritz Carlton beach management.
The BSO contacted multiple hotel beach staff members and addressed inconsistent flag colors on
the beach. They were reminded that beach flags must be consistent with WENS messages sent out
every morning. In addition, the BSO requested all Beach Caution Flags be changed to the color
yellow due to impending inclement weather conditions.
The BSO responded to a medical emergency directly behind 10185 Collins Avenue (on the sand).
The female was treated on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
During this week, The BSO Officer encountered two dogs on the beach. Dogs were removed upon
request.
The BSO conducted daily inspections of the beach area for cleanliness and of all sea turtle nest areas
to ensure they were properly blocked off.

An unknown female entered the Prada store and selected merchandise from a display, the female then
entered the fitting room. When she exited the fitting room, she left the store with the merchandise. The
incident was captured on store surveillance cameras and will be preserved for investigative purposes.

A resident reported jewelry missing from her home. She suspected the housekeeper may have been
involved in the theft. The complainant claims an anonymous friend showed her a social media post
depicting the housekeeper wearing what appeared to be the missing jewelry. The Criminal
Investigation Unit will conduct a follow-up investigation.

The complainant received a letter from the Florida Department of Revenue demanding payment for
overdue taxes. Before paying, the complainant reviewed the letter with his accountant and discovered
the letter was a fraud. The complainant reported the incid ent to the police and averted falling victim to
a common tax scam.

While Jogging on the Jetty, two individuals slipped and fell off onto the rocks. One male received minor
injuries and advised he would drive himself to an urgent care for treatment. No other incidents reported.
