Subject: Memorial Concert Honoring Our Neighboring Surfside Community
Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to share with you that the upcoming
Sunday, July 25th "Symphony by the Sea" performance which had been scheduled will
serve as a commemorative concert honoring those impacted by the Champlain Tower
South tragedy in Surfside. The Town of Surfside was exploring a way to memorialize
the one -month milestone of the building collapse and reached out to our staff to see if
there was a way to collaborate for an appropriate event in our community.
The event will be relocated to the beach on 96th Street and will feature an expanded
group of musicians from the South Florida Symphony Orchestra who will perform on a
raised stage from 6:OOpm-7:30pm. The event is being planned with the Town of
Surfside and both Bal Harbour and Surfside residents are invited to participate. Limited
seating will be set up and residents will be advised to bring blankets or beach chairs
to enjoy the performance. If you would like us to reserve a seat for you, please reach
