The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

BSO conducted checks of all turtle nest and found them properly cordoned off.
BSO discovered a large PVC pipe which caused a beach hazard. BSO coordinated its removal with
public works.
BSO encountered a You Tube Film Crew who had set up their equipment carts with large advertising
signs on the Jetty. The crew was notified that they were in violation of the Bal Harbour Code. BSO
followed up and found that the signs had been removed from the cart.

Neiman Marcus loss prevention personnel told officers an unknown female entered the second floor
and began perusing display racks. The female was captured on store surveillance cameras concealing
merchandise and exiting the store without paying. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal
Investigations Division for further follow-up.

Giuseppe Zanotti store personnel summoned officers regarding an unruly customer that refused to
leave. The customer told officers she was upset the store would not refund her purchase of a pair of
shoes from the previous week. Store management offered a store credit, wit hout expiration, and the
customer was satisfied and left the store.

Bal Harbour Village experienced power outages on two consecutive nights. FPL supervisors advised
that some power grids were over loaded due to one grid in Miami Beach being down. FPL advised that
repairs to the grid is on-going and should be completed over the weekend.

A Surfside teen was reported missing by his parents. The teen may have last been seen in the Bal
Harbour Shops. Bal Harbour police officers conducted an extensive search which included investigative
techniques and the use of social media. The teen was located walking home and was reunited with his
parents. The investigation revealed no foul play.

Bal Harbour police officers responded to assist Bay Harbor Islands regarding a report of a burglary in-
progress by the homeowner who heard noises inside the home. The house was cleared and no signs
of entry was found. Bal Harbour units cleared and resumed normal patrol functions.

A Bal Harbour police officer was notified of a theft that had just occurred at Neiman’s Marcus and
immediately coordinated police response. Within minutes, the officer spotted the described
perpetrators exiting the Bal Harbour Shops in a vehicle. Upon se eing the police units converging in on
them, one of the subjects took off on foot with the stolen merchandise. After a foot pursuit, the subject
was apprehended in Surfside’s jurisdiction. The second subject fled in the vehicle into Bay Harbor
Islands. A BHI police officer located the vehicle parked in a condo parking lot. The second offender
was hiding in the back seat. All subjects were apprehended and the stolen property was recovered.

Two females walked into the lobby of the Majestic where they were to meet to other female residents.
A male appeared to have followed the girls in his vehicle, pulled up to the driveway and exited his
vehicle. The subject walked up to the window and began touching his privates then exposed his penis
to the four women. The male fled in the vehicle when witnesses yelled at him. A BOLO (be on the look-
out) was immediately broadcasted to all neighboring agencies. A check of our License Plate Readers
revealed the vehicle last hit was northbound on Collins Avenue and NE 158 Street into Sunny Isles.The
Criminal Investigation Division will conduct a follow-up investigation.

A male attending an event became involved in verbal argument with St. Regis Valet personnel. The
male who appeared intoxicated was administered a trespass warning and allowed to leave after
obtaining a ride.
