The Jetty was closed for 24 hours due to deteriorating weather associated with Tropical Storm Fred. The BSO impounded a lost wallet that was found by a resident. 0 8 /1 3 /2 0 2 1 A ssi st O t h e r A g en cy 9 5 0 0 Bl o ck A b b o t A v e n u e Bal Harbour officers assisted Surfside police after receiving a strong-arm robbery call near the CVS. An extensive area canvas was conducted; however, no victim or subjects were located. The call was classified as unfounded. 0 8 /1 4 /2 0 2 1 Th ef t 9 7 0 3 Co l l i n s A v e n u e St. Regis security personnel summoned Bal Harbour officers regarding a theft. The victim told officers he discovered his hotel room door open and multiple pieces of jewelry missing from inside. Officers did not observe any signs of forced entry. The Criminal Investigations Division will conduct a follow-up investigation. 0 8 /1 5 /2 0 2 1 A ssi st O t h e r A g en cy 8 8 0 0 Bl o ck o f A b b o t A v en u e Bal Harbour officers assisted the Town of Surfside with a perimeter regarding an in-progress residential burglary. Bal Harbour officers cleared the area after Surfside and Miami Beach police K9 units concluded their search. 0 8 /1 6 /2 0 2 1 Th ef t 9 7 0 0 Co l l i n s A v en u e Saks Fifth Avenue asset protection personnel told officers a female and entered the store and removed several items from a display and concealed them. The female was confronted by asset protection before exiting the store and relinquished the items to them. Upon turning the items over,she fled the area on foot. Bal Harbour officers conducted an area canvas, however, was unable to locate the female. 0 8 /1 6 /2 0 2 1 Si m p l e Bat t e r y 9 7 0 0 Co l l i n s A v e n u e Officers were dispatched to the Le Zoo restaurant regarding a disturbance. Two employees were involved in a verbal altercation in the kitchen which resulted in one employee allegedly pushing another employee. There were no witnesses to the incident or security camera footage to support the allegations. Neither party sustained any injuries. Both parties were directed to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office should they desire to pursue further legal action. 0 8 /1 6 /2 0 2 1 Tr af f i c Vi o l at i o n 9 7 0 0 Co l l i n s A v en u e A Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle speeding on Collins Avenue. The investigation revealed the driver had an open bench warrant for failure to appear and was subsequently transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. Once the booking process commenced, a corrections officer advised that the judge had just set aside the warrant and re-scheduled a new hearing date for the offender. The individual was transported back to the scene of the stop and was made whole as per Florida legal guidelines.
