The purpose of this Letter to Council is to inform you of the implementation of a new "One Stop
Shop" service in the Building Department.
As of August 23, 2021, customers in the Village Building Department will no longer need to go
to Miami -Dade County for any required approvals. The Village Building Department has
partnered with Miami -Dade County to offer our customer a more convenient and efficient
method to submit for permitting through a "One Stop Shop"
This process is streamlined, with the customer submitting to the Village Building Department
their complete set of drawings which is then sent to the County electronically allowing for
concurrent plan review between the Village and the County. This concurrent plan review not
only saves travel time on the part of the customer, but it also expedites the plan review overall.
The process is seamless due to the fact that they will continue to interact with the County
electronically as usual. This is our first step in creating a "One Stop Shop" for the benefit and
convenience of our customers. Prior to this the customer would have to take the plans to Miami -
Dade County for approvals or comments, then submit to the Village for our reviews.
Since the inception of this service, we have already submitted seventeen (17) applications to
Miami -Dade County with a turnaround time of 5-7 business days. The Village Building
Department concurrently reviewed the plans reducing the processing time drastically.
