In all cases, the suspects wore facial coverings to conceal their identities. Detectives are encouraging loss prevention personnel to increase vigilance as the year-end holiday season commences. In cases where video footage was available, detectives used images of the suspects to prepare flyers for distribution to other law enforcement agencies. Marine Patrol / Beach Safety Officer Details Stops Citations Warnings Arrests Reports AOA Contacts 04 00 02 00 00 00 56 Remarks Marine Patrol: Marine Patrol conducted nighttime patrols of the on November 12 and 13 regarding on -going noise complaints (loud music) coming from vessels anchored at Sandspur Island (AKA beer can island) area. Marine officers issued one warning for loud music and also made several contacts with other boat captains. Marine Patrol officers conducted beach safety checks during the week and assisted road patrol with calls for service. Beach Safety Officer: The BSO encountered three dogs on the beach during the daily checks. Once being educated on the ordinance restrictions; the dog owners immediately complied and leashed the dogs. The BSO made contact with St. Regis and Bal Moral beach supervisors regarding chairs obstructing a pathway for emergency services/vehicles. The chairs were moved and appropriate space was created. The BSO conducted fishing license checks on the Jetty, all fisherman were properly licensed. Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service 11/12/2021 Suspicious Incident 600 block of 96 St Bal Harbour officers responded to the 600 block of 96St regarding a traffic dispute. The complainant told officers he was traveling westbound on 96th street and was involved in a "road rage" incident with a driver of a BMW. The driver of the BMW began yelling obscenities and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. The tag of the suspect vehicle was recorded by the complainant. The Criminal Investigations Division will conduct a follow-up. 11/13/2021 Assist Other Agency 9700 Collins Avenue Surfside police requested Bal Harbour Police assistance in locating a suicidal juvenile. Bal Harbour officers quickly canvassed the area and located the juvenile inside the Bal Harbour Shops. Surfside officers responded and took custody of the juvenile. 11/18/2021 Thanksgiving Dinner Food Baskets Preparations and Distribution The Bal Harbour Police Department in conjunction with the Bal Harbour Police Legacy Foundation, Village employees, and several community volunteers assembled and distributed over 130 Thanksgiving baskets and Turkeys to deserving families throughout Miami -Dade County. This annual community initiative has provided Thanksgiving meals, Turkeys and gift cards to over 1000 families. 11/14/2021 Suspicious Person 9930 Collins Avenue Officers were requested regarding a suspicious person in the parking lot on the north side of the apartment complex. The suspect was installing a headlight on his bicycle and claimed to be utilizing the parking lot light to help him see during the installation. A routine history check did not reveal any outstanding wants or warrants, the suspect was advised he was on private property and left the area without incident. 11/15/2021 Arrest 207 Bal Cross Drive A contractor was witnessed dumping hazardous pesticides into the storm drain along the roadway. Officers responded and issued the contractor an arrest affidavit to appear in court on misdemeanor criminal charges. DERM was also notified of the incident. 11/16/2021 Theft 9700 Collins Avenue Prada store associates told officers that four suspects entered the store and began perusing merchandise on display, the suspect concealed the items and exited the store without paying. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for follow-up. 11/16/2021 Hit and Run 2 Harbour Way A driver tailgated another vehicle and entered the gated community without checking in at the guard gate. When the driver exited, the guard attempted to identify the driver. The driver failed to stop and his vehicle struck the guard. Bal Harbour officers responded and determined the driver was a teenager who is a resident of Bay Harbor Islands. Officers spoke with the juvenile's father and appraised him of the situation.
