The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Marine Patrol officers also conducted an evening patrols of the Sandbar area on Sunday, November
21, 2021. Marine officers contacted several vessel captains and informed them of the noise level
ordinances regarding loud music.
Beach Safety Officer:
In addition to the daily beach, jetty and hard pack checks, the BSO issued a verbal warning after
encountering one dog on the beach. The owner removed the dog once advised of the Bal Harbour
restrictions.
The BSO also participated in the Sand Bar Marine Patrol noise initiative regarding recent complaints.

Criminal Mischief
North Lot
While officers were conducting an area check of the North Lot, graffiti was observed on the dumpsters
near the seawall. Officers took pictures and forwarded them to the Public Works department, there
were no cameras in the area that would have captured the incident.
11/20/2021
Arrest
10200 blk Collins Avenue
Officers were conducting traffic enforcement along Frontage Road; officers stopped a vehicle for failing
to obey the posted stop sign. During the course of the traffic investigation, the officers discovered
several inconsistencies between the drivers' statements and the documents that were provided. Further
investigation revealed the driver was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in Las Vegas,
Nevada in 1996. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to jail to await extradition.

Assist Other Agency
Haulover
Miami -Dade Police requested assistance regarding a possible drowning occurring in the Haulover Park
area. Upon arriving in the area, Bal Harbour officers observed a body floating in the water
approximately five yards off -shore. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue recovered the body and determined it had
been in the water for quite some time. Officers secured the area until Miami -Dade Homicide
investigators responded to take control of the scene.
