Bal Harbour marine patrol officers had the vessel drop anchor near 200 Bal Bay Drive and boarded the vessel. Contact was made with the vessel captain and no damage nor suspicious activity was detected. Marine Patrol officers assisted road patrol during the week and also assisted Sunny Isles Beach police department during their Multi -Agency Traffic Enforcement Detail. Beach Safety Officer: BSO assisted a stranded vessel in the Haulover inlet. Bal Harbour / Indian Creek Marine Patrol units responded along with I -Tow, who was able to assist by towing the vessel away. BSO ensured all designated posts along the beach were properly equipped with Res -Q Disks. BSO conducted parking enforcement at the North Municipal Parking Lot. BSO conducted fishing license checks on the jetty. BSO responded to an injury call on the beach directly behind the Ritz Carlton hotel in reference to a beach umbrella pole that struck a beach goer on the side of the head. The umbrella belonged to the Ritz Carlton and had blown away by the wind. No other reports of this nature were report for the duration of the day. BSO encountered 2 dogs on the beach which belonged to visitors to the area. The individuals were advised of the restrictions and promptly removed the dogs. BSO assisted in coordinating set-up and logistical matters for "Movies on the Beach" event. Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service 11/26/2021 Power Outage 10295 Collins Avenue The Ritz -Carlton experienced a power outage for several hours. Initially, multiple persons were trapped in the elevator for a few minutes. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue responded and the elevator was evacuated. The building remained under generator power for several hours until Florida Power and Light made the necessary repairs. The power issue was isolated and only affected the Ritz Carlton. 11/26/2021 Theft 9700 Collins Avenue The store manager for Isabel Marant told officers an unknown female entered the store and began perusing the merchandise. The female walked over to the cash register, opened the drawer, removed cash, and exited the store immediately. The incident was captured on store surveillance cameras and has been preserved for the investigation. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further follow-up. 11/26/2021 Assist Other Agency 9000 Block of Collins Avenue The Town of Surfside Police requested assistance reference an apartment fire. Bal Harbour police officers responded and assisted in re-routing traffic until the fire department gave the all clear. 11/26/2021 Assist Other Agency Bal Harbour Jetty While conducting a Jetty check, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a stranded vessel that lost power. Marine Patrol units from Bal Harbour and Indian Creek responded to the scene. The vessel drifted onto the Jetty rocks which cause some minor damage; however, no injuries were reported. I -Tow responded and towed the vessel to the Haulover Sandbar area. The vessel captain was able to resume his travels after re -starting his boat. 11/26/2021 Loud Music Disturbance Haulover Sandbar/ Sandspur Island A resident complained of loud music coming from the Haulover Sandbar area. A Bal Harbour police officer and Indian Creek marine patrol responded and made contact with two vessel captains who lowered their music to acceptable levels. Also, it is important to note that Florida International University was hosting a campus concert and the music carried throughout the waterway area. 11/27/2021 Disturbance 9700 Collins Avenue Moncler store associates requested police to respond due to a customer acting erratically. The patron told officers the store associates were being racist and was upset by their behavior. The patron agreed to leave the premises; however, he completed his purchases prior to leaving. Officers and the patron left the scene without further incident. 11/27/2021 Assist Other Agency 10300 Block of Collins Avenue Bal Harbour police officers responded to the Haulover Bridge regarding a traffic accident where a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Miami Dade's jurisdiction. Miami Dade Police responded and took over the investigation. The bicyclist was transported by Miami Dade Fire Rescue to an area hospital for further medical treatment. 11/27/2021 Movie Night Jetty & Haulover Sandbar Bal Harbour hosted the first Movie Night at the jetty. Marine patrol worked into the early evening patrolling the jetty and beach side during the event. Marine Patrol also conducted a check on the sandbar and made contact with several vessel captains and educating them of the loud music restrictions. 11/28/2021 Theft 9703 Collins Avenue The complainant told officer she was hired as a makeup artist for an event held at the St. Regis. At the conclusion of the event, she left her studio makeup chair in the valet area before departing. Upon arriving home, she discovered her chair was not loaded into her vehicle. St. Regis hotel security captured the theft on their security surveillance system; however, the unknown female that took the chair could not be identified. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further follow-up. 11/29/2021 Simple Battery 10101 Collins Avenue The complainant, a food delivery driver, told officers while delivering food a customer inappropriately groped their person. The incident was not witnessed by anyone and was not captured on a security camera. This incident was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further follow-up. 11/30/2021 Disturbance 9703 Collins Avenue The complainant told officers she was upset about the condition of their hotel room upon checking in. Hotel staff advised the complainant they would not be issuing a refund which further upset the complainant. Hotel staff offered to move the complainant to another room; however, the complainant declined and subsequently checked out of the hotel and left without further incident. 12/02/2021 Fire 10225 Collins Avenue The Miami -Dade Fire Department and Bal Harbour Police unit were dispatched to an apartment fire. Upon arriving they learned that residents had extinguished a small fire due to an electrical short in the bathrooms exhaust fan. No injuries reported. 12/02/2021 Trespass After Warning Arrest 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops security observed a male who had been previously trespassed from the property after being arrested for retail theft.
