Subject: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the period of
January 14, 2022 through January 20, 2022
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Marine Patrol:
On Saturday morning January 15, Marine Patrol police officers participated in a Multi -Agency
Community Bicycle Ride, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King.
Marine patrol officers patrolled all waterways surrounding Bal Harbour Village daily. Marine
patrol officers also assisted with augmenting road patrol operations during the week.
Marine Patrol assisted Tow Boat US with a disabled vessel oceanside just south of 96 Street.
Beach Safety Officer:
On Friday, the BSO responded to a medical emergency at the pool of the Ritz Carlton (residential side)
where a 3 -year -old boy fell and sustained a laceration to the back of his head. Miami -Dade Fire
Department responded and treated the young boy on scene.
The BSO assisted with the Movies on the Beach event by providing police presence. Later in the evening,
the BSO observed the area directly behind the Ritz Carlton was left uncleaned and the beach chairs
belonging to the Bal Moral were improperly stored. Code Enforcement was notified and contacted the
property's management.
Throughout the weekend, the BSO informed several individuals (4) on the jetty, specifically fisherman,
that single use items; such as, plastic bags are prohibited in the area. The individuals said they were
unaware of such ordinance and advised they would not bring plastic bags in the future.
The BSO conducted traffic enforcement and parking enforcement throughout the weekend, as well as,
assisted with traffic details during peak hours and during heavy traffic congestion periods.
This weekend, the BSO encountered a total of 5 dogs on the beach. No violations were observed on the
walking path.
Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service
01/14/2022
Recovery of Missing Juveniles
10100 Block of Collins Avenue
Bal Harbour police received a call -in regarding two subjects trespassing on the property of a
condominium. Security personnel told the officers they observed the individuals scale the rear fence
leading to the beach area. A Bal Harbour officer located and detained the subjects on the hardpack.
Further investigation revealed both subjects were missing juveniles who ran away from a secure
detention juvenile rehabilitation program. The juveniles were transported back to the center. No
criminal activity or damages were reported.

Assist Other Agency
9500 Block of Abbot Avenue
Bal Harbour police units responded to assist the Town of Surfside police who were searching for a
possible burglary subject. The subject was located in the parking lot near CVS. Once the scene was
secure, Bal Harbour officers returned to the Village and resumed normal operation.
01/15/2022
Disturbance / Trespass Warning
10100 block Collins Avenue
Bal Harbour police responded to a disturbance at the Plaza Condo building. Once the officers arrived,
front desk personnel advised the individual had left the scene. The subject was located as she boarded
a Miami Dade Transit Bus. The investigation revealed no crime was committed, however, the female
was issued a trespass warning from the property.

Traffic Incident
10200 block Collins Avenue
While conducting speed radar enforcement, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop. A routing
background check revealed the driver had a suspended drivers' license and a seize tag order issued by
the State of Florida. The driver received several citations and the tag was impounded.
01/17/2022
Vehicle Burglary
200 block of Bal Bay Drive
Bal Harbour officers received a called of a possible armed robbery that just occurred. A description of
the suspect vehicle was immediately broadcasted to all officers. Bal Harbour officers located the vehicle
attempting to exit the residential community. A vehicle pursuit ensued and ended when the suspects
crashed their vehicle in North Miami Beach. All subjects exited the vehicle and ran in opposite
directions. Arriving officers established a perimeter, however, the subject were not located. The victim's
property was recovered and returned. Bal Harbour investigators are conducting a follow-up
investigation in an effort to identify the suspects.
01 /18/2022
Stolen Vehicle
100 block Bal Four Drive.
Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the location regarding a vehicle theft. The preliminary
investigation revealed the same individuals from the vehicle burglary had also committed the Auto
Theft. Bal Harbour investigators in conjunction with Lauderhill PD located the victim's vehicle in good
condition a few hours later.
