Subject: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the period of
February 4, 2022 through February 10, 2022
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Officers’ Cole and Navas conducted random bike patrols throughout Village, additionally, the officers
assisted road patrol and conducted daily traffic enforcement.
In addition to daily oceanside and seawall checks, Marine Patrol officers conducted evening patrols of
the bay and Haulover Inlet.
While patrolling the intercoastal waterway, Officer Waisman observed several men working after the
permitted times at a home on Bal Bay Drive, officers responded and informed the workers to cease.
Bal Harbour Marine Officers assisted Indian Creek Marine Officers r with a possible domestic disturbance
on a vessel. Marine officers conducted an area canvass; however, they could not locate the vessel in
question.

Arrest
9700 Collins Avenue
A female entered Saks Fifth Avenue and began perusing the merchandise on display. The female then
retrieved merchandise from a display and concealed it in her bag and exited the store. The female was
detained by associates until officers could arrive on scene. The female was issued an arrest affidavit
and released on scene.

Arrest
9700 Collins Avenue
Saks Fifth Avenue conducted an internal investigation on one of their employees that revealed the
employee stole merchandise from the store. The entire theft was captured on store surveillance
cameras, in addition, the subject employee admitted to stealing additional merchandise. The subject
was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

Tory Burch store associates were conducting an inventory audit when they discovered merchandise
missing from a display. A review of store surveillance footage captured a male enter the store and
remove merchandise from the display shelf. The male concealed the merchandise and exited the store.
This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further follow-up.

Saks Fifth Avenue associates told officers a female was perusing the cosmetic section when she
concealed merchandise in her bag and exited the store. An internal investigation revealed the
identification of the female as a previous customer. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal
Investigations Division for further follow-up.

Alexander McQueen store associates told officers a male entered the store and removed merchandise
from the display. The unknown male concealed the merchandise and exited the store. This case has
been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further follow-up.

Neiman Marcus store associates told officers a male entered the second floor and removed items from
the display. The male concealed the items and exited the store. The incident was captured via the in-
store surveillance cameras. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for
further follow-up.
02/09/2022 Traffic Congestion Collins Avenue Corridor
Sunny Isles Beach police department notified the surrounding municipalities that NE 163 Street
eastbound lanes were closed due to a serious traffic accident. All westbound traffic was diverted south
and north on Collins Avenue. Bal Harbour experienced heavy southbound traffic delays for three hours.
Once the accident scene was cleared, all traffic returned to normal.

Disturbance
9700 Collins Avenue
Bal Harbour police officers were dispatched to the Balmain Store regarding a female causing a
disturbance. Once on the scene, officers were advised the female had fled the area. The disturbance
stemmed from a dispute of a returned item. Officer conducted an extensive search; however, the
female was not located.

Injured Person
9700 Collins Avenue
A Bal Harbour Shops construction worked requested fire rescue after experiencing abdomen pain. The
injury occurred while the worker was opening the 96 Street construction gate. The worker was treated
and released on the scene by Miami -Dade Fire Rescue. The site supervisor transported the worker to
an area hospital for further treatment.
