Gonzalez, Village Manag DATE: February 18, 2022 SUBJECT: Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council FDOT Project Fact Sheet for State Rd Al A/Collins Avenue from Harbour Way West to Frontage Road The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to share the project fact sheet provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for an upcoming project on Collins Avenue from Harbour Way West to Frontage Road. In January 2020, Chief Flowers and Captain Escarra attended an FDOT Scoping Committee meeting, in which future projects are considered. Chief Flowers addressed several issues relating to pedestrian crosswalks, including those on Frontage Road near the Haulover Bridge. As a result of this meeting, the Scoping Committee decided to proceed with design and funding of a project in this area. This project is currently in the design phase and is scheduled to commence in May 2023, with an estimated project cost of $1.4 million. This project will include the following improvements: • Repaving and restriping the roadway • Reducing the width of Frontage Road • Installing raised crosswalks • Upgrading the sign to include rectangular rapid flashing beacons • Replacing pavement markings and sidewalk Bal Harbour Police and Public Works staff will continue to engage with FDOT during the final design phase and through construction. PROJECT DETAILS PROJECT DATES • Repaving and restriping the roadway Work is expected to begin in May 2023 and last about six • Reducing the width of the frontage road months. Pedestrian detours will be established with clear signage. Access to adjacent businesses and neighborhoods will be maintained. SECRETARY Miami, FL 33172 February 9, 2022 The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is developing the design for a roadway project along State Road (SR) A1A/Collins Avenue from Harbour Way West to Bal Cross Drive, in Miami -Dade County. The scope of work for this project is listed in the enclosed project fact sheet. Construction is scheduled to start May 2023 and last about six months. The estimated construction cost for this project is $1.4 million. To complete this project safely, temporary lane closures and detours will affect traffic. Pedestrian detours will be established with clear signage. Access to adjacent businesses and neighborhoods will be maintained. Work will be done in stages to minimize impacts and ensure that traffic continues to flow safely through the work zone.
