The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Remarks
Marine Patrol:
Marine patrol responded to calls regarding a vessel playing loud music near the seawall. Upon arrival
in the area, the vessels had left the area.
Marine patrol also responded to a call from a resident advising of a vessel anchored close to the sea
wall. Marine patrol searched the area, but found no vessels near the sea wall.
On Thursday, March 03, 2022, Marine Patrol officers participated in the Miami Beach Multi -Agency
Educational Traffic Enforcement Event.
On Thursday afternoon, Marine Patrol responded to a report of a vessel near the sea wall of a home in
the gated community. Once on the scene, the officer determined that the vessel operators were fishing,
possessed proper credentials and were not encroaching on private property. The couple are well known
to Bal Harbour Marine Patrol officers and posed no threat to public safety.
Beach Safety Officer:
The BSO handled multiple calls for service throughout the weekend.
BSO conducted daily beach, Jetty and Hardpack checks.
On Saturday, the BSO was dispatched the Majestic Condominium reference a possible domestic
incident. The BSO discovered a disoriented couple who accidentally dialed 911. BSO stood by and
assisted the couple in calling a vehicle for hire to get them to their destination.
BSO used two days of leave this weekend. Patrol and code officers conducted the area checks in his
absence.
Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service
02/25/2022
Arrest
10200 Block of Collins Avenue
Officers responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress. Officers arrived in the area and
obtained a description of the suspect. The victim told officers a male suspect demanded her cellphone
and purse or he would stab her with a knife. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect fled. Officers
immediately saturated the area and captured the suspect along the hardpack without incident. The
suspect was criminally charged and transported to jail.
02/28/2022
Lost Property
122 Bal Bay Drive
Guests at 122 Bal Bay Drive rented several baby items from a baby supply vendor. Upon concluding
their stay, the rental company instructed them to leave the items in front of the property, but behind the
gate, for retrieval at a later time. The items were inadvertently left outside of the gate near the curb. An
unknown party collected the items and left the area. The guests were charged for the replacement
costs of the items and a report was written for documentation purposes.
02/28/2022
Theft
9700 Collins Avenue
Giuseppe Zanotti store associates told officers they discovered four items missing. They discovered the
loss while conducting an inventory audit of merchandise on display. The were no witnesses to the theft
and the store did not have surveillance cameras. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal
Investigations Division for further follow-up.

Suspicious Males
10230 Collins Avenue
A resident reported four suspicious males standing in the parking lot near the sidewalk. Bal Harbour
police officers responded; however, the suspects were not on the scene. Officers checked the
immediate areas, but did not locate any suspicious persons.

Property Damage
248 Bal Bay Drive
A resident reported he found damage to his driveway. The owner believes that the damage was caused
by heavy machinery being used in the area.
03/02/2022
Trespassing
9909 Collins Avenue
Sea View Hotel personnel reported they observed a male exiting their property in the morning. Further
inspection revealed an unlocked cabana and several empty beer cans laying around the area. Security
believe that the male was not a guest. An area canvass was conducted with negative results. Police
increased overnight area security checks.

Traffic Congestion
Collins Avenue Corridor
The Bal Harbour area experienced heavy vehicular traffic throughout the weekend during the late
afternoon and early evening hours. Police officers manned all intersections and managed traffic until
normal traffic flow resumed.
