SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department - FDOT Northeast Community Traffic Safety
Program Event
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to share information with you on an upcoming
traffic safety event in Bal Harbour Village.
The Bal Harbour Police Department in conjunction with the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) District Six, through their NE Community Traffic Safety Team
program will conduct a multi -agency traffic safety enforcement and educational detail on
Monday, March 28, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event will focus on Bal Harbour
Village from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Law enforcement will be focusing primarily on aggressive and distracted driving as part of
the "Put It Down" Campaign. The officers will also address red-light enforcement,
speeding, seatbelt usage, move -over law compliance, cyclist/pedestrian safety and
general traffic safety. Educational materials will be provided by FDOT to all participating
law enforcement personnel to distribute during the operation.
The participating agencies thus far are North Bay Village, Town of Surfside, Town of Bay
Harbor Islands, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, and Miami Gardens.
