The purpose of this Letter to Council is to inform you that I have been chosen to receive
the Florida League of Cities' 2022 Home Rule Hero Award.
This is the second consecutive year that I have been selected for this award. It is a direct
result of my participation on the policy and strategy development during the recently
completed Florida Legislation Session.

Good morning Jorge-
I am pleased to inform you that you have been chosen to receive the Florida League of Cities’ 2022 Home
Rule Hero Award! Your outspoken advocacy for municipal home rule leading up to and during the 2022
Legislative Session is an inspiration and a model for municipal officials statewide. Efforts such as yours are
an integral piece of the League’s grassroots advocacy and a key component to our success. A press release
template will be emailed to you so that your city office can announce your award.
FLC typically presents Home Rule Hero awards at a local/regional league meeting. I have reached out to the
Miami-Dade County League of Cities to find out if there is an upcoming meeting that we can attend to
present you with your award. I will contact you once a date has been determined.
