Subject: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the period of
April 8, 2022, through April 14, 2022.
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Marine Patrol conducted daily bayside and ocean side checks of our waterways. No unusual activity was
observed.
The Marine Patrol initiated stop of a speeding jet ski by the Bal Harbour Marina, the operator was issued
a citation and educated on maritime laws.

Miami-Dade County Police requested the assistance of Bal Harbour officers while they served an
eviction notice. No incidents were reported.

The Sunny Isles 163 Street bridge was closed while undergoing necessary repairs, the closure caused
considerable traffic delays throughout the coastal communities.

Bal Harbour Police communications received several calls regarding loud music coming from Biscayne
Bay area. FIU North Campus was hosting a permitted outdoor concert from 4PM to 12AM. Bal Harbour
officers contacted FIU police who assured us the concert would be over at midnight. The concert ended
as scheduled and no other complaints were received.

Bal Harbour Village hosted Movie Night at the Jetty; The event was well attended, and no issues were
reported.

Officers responded to the incident location regarding reports of a male kicking a vehicle. Officers made
contact with the parties involved, a married couple with a child in common. The couple en gaged in a
verbal altercation, however, no physical violence occurred. The parties left the area without further
incident.

Bal Harbour officers were summoned to La Perla regarding a disturbance, the store employee told
officers a couple was causing a disturbance and “flashing” a police badge. Officers contacted the
parties involved; the male told officers he was involved in a verbal argument with a store associate. The
male told officers he never “flashed” a badge; however , he did open his wallet which contains a police
chaplain badge. The male is currently a New York City police chaplain, neither party wished to pursue
the matter further and left the store. No other incidents were reported.

A driver fell asleep while driving home and struck two unoccupied cars that were parked curbside. No
injuries were reported, and the owners of the parked vehicles were notified.
