Criminal Investigations
Detective Gonzalez prepared a new training curriculum related to Autism awareness for Village Hall staff
and general employees. The training course is geared toward helping Village employees interact more
effectively with persons on the Autism spectrum.
Detective Gonzalez also provided law enforcement focused, Autism instruction to the Basic Law
Enforcement Class #375 at the Miami -Dade College School of Justice. The training ensures new police
officers are better equipped to communicate and interact with persons on the Autism spectrum.
The CID investigated the theft of handbags from an anchor store at the Bal Harbour Shops. Detectives
used video footage to create a need -to -identify flyer and distributed the flyer to neighboring jurisdictions
in an attempt to identify the subject involved.
The CID initiated a background investigation for a potential new police hire. The investigation included
criminal background checks, personal reference checks, credit checks, a review of employment histories,
and the like. The intensity of the background investigation helps identify qualified candidates to serve
as Bal Harbour police officers.
