LETTER TO COUNCIL
NO. 092-2022
Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members ()tithe Village Council
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to advise you of the preparations that the Village
administration has made in anticipation of the extreme weather expected through the
weekend in our area as the remnants of the pacific hurricane Agatha move across the Gulf and
South Florida. This system has become the first major storm to threaten South Florida since
the start of the current hurricane season on June 1. Although the actual storm is not anticipated
to impact the Village directly, Bal Harbour and all of Miami -Dade County remains under
tropical storm warning (winds expected in excess of 39 mph) with conditions expected to begin
impacting our area on Friday, June 3 afternoon through Saturday, June 4. The National
Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for coastal Miami -Dade County
from 2:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. The primary concern for our community is
rain and flash flooding as this is a slow -moving storm which may produce up to 8-10 inches of
water. This rain impact is expected to last through Sunday, June 5 morning.
As outlined in the Village's Critical Incident Operations Plan, the administration has instituted
the following actions in preparation for the storm:
• Essential personnel will remain on shift for debris clearance and critical emergencies.
• Construction work in the Village has ceased.
• Village personnel will continue to monitor the storm.
Should you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to call me or
Assistant Village Manager Ramiro Inguanzo directly.
