Co d e En f o r cem e n t
The Code Enforcement Unit patrols the Village to ensure properties comply with ordinances pertaining
to aesthetics. CEOs discovered two properties along the 200 Block of Park Drive that were not within
appearance standards. CEOs issued each homeowner a code violation warning directing them to
properly mow and maintain the properties.
Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) hosted a police intern for a day of instruction and interviews
about the inner workings of the detective bureau. Detectives exposed the intern to criminal investigation
procedures and provided case studies to highlight the importance of conducting proper and fair
investigations within constitutional restraints.
The CID participated in department -sponsored ethics training. The four-hour class was taught by the
former chairman of the Miami -Dade Ethics Commission, and provided guidance to all employees on
how to ensure any action taken adhered to accepted ethical standards.
Detectives continue to follow-up on multiple retail theft cases occurring at the Bal Harbour Shops.
Detectives are reviewing the facts of a recent patrol arrest of a retail theft suspect to determine if he may
have been involved in other yet unsolved cases.
