OFFICE OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER LETTER TO COUNCIL
NO. 121-2022
TO: Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
FROM: Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manag
DATE: August 5, 2022
SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Legacy Foundation -Back to School Initiative
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you of several upcoming activities
related to the Bal Harbour Police Legacy Foundation (BHPDLF) Back to School Initiative.
As you know, the BHPDLF holds an annual back to school supplies drive to benefit deserving
students throughout Miami -Dade County. This year, the BHPDLF collaborated with the school
administrators at Ruth K. Broad K-8 Center, who identified 53 deserving students to receive
uniforms, backpacks and other school essentials. In addition, continuing the partnerships
established in prior years, the Kindergarten through Second Grade classes of three (3) schools
have been selected as recipients, including: Martin Luther King Jr. Primary Learning Center,
Henry Reeves K-8 Center, and Holmes Elementary School. In total, the BHPDLF will help 533
Miami -Dade County students be better prepared to embark on the new school year.
In preparation for distribution, the BHPDLF will be holding a volunteer packing event, to
prepare the backpacks and sort the uniforms for each class. A call for volunteers has been sent
via the Village's Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS). Details are as follows:
