HomeMy Public PortalAbout2006-069 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 416Member Smith introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2006-69 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 416 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 416, an ordinance amending Sections 715.01, et seq., of the Medina code of ordinances regarding special assessment deferments; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 416 is two pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 416 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 416. The ordinance amends code sections providing for special assessment deferments for elderly or disabled owners of homestead property if payment would be a hardship. The amended ordinance describes those who are eligible to apply for the deferment of a special assessment, indicates that forms to seek a deferment may be obtained from the city, and that interest on deferred assessments continues to accrue during the period of deferment. A copy of the complete ordinance is available from the city administrator -clerk at Medina city hall. Chad M.
