RESOLUTION REQUESTING''THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
� TO LEVY A FIVE CENT TAX RATE IN ZONE ONE'OF THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the inhabitants of the City of Lynwood now rely
for water upon that obtained from wells producing from Central Basin
ground water supply, and
WHEREAS, an adequate, dependable, and continuous supply of
water is vital and necessary to the continued welfare of the inhabitants
of the City of Lyriwood, and
WHERE�S, ground water levels in the Central Basin have been
lowering for several years indicating that the supply of water obtained
from wells is dwindling and that water produced from wells far exceeds
in volume the amount nature provides as replenishment, and
WI-IEREAS, a supply of Colorado River water can now be obtained
because the Central Basin Municipal Water'District is annexed to The
Metropolitan�; Water District of Southern California, and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District has
facilities for spreading Colorado River water in the Central Basin
to supplement the natural supply of ground water, '
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the City of Lynwood
request, and it does hereby request, the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles to again levy, for the 1g55-56 fiscal year, a
five cent tax rate in Zone One of the Los Angeles County Flood Control
Distriet for the purchase of Colorado River water to be spread•in the
Central Basin, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this
Resolution be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors of the-County of
� Los Angeles.
