HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007-013 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 420Member Weir introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2007-13 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 420 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 420 an ordinance amending city code section 415, et.seq. regarding the regulation of truck traffic; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 420 is four pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 420 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 420. The ordinance amends section 415 of the city code regulating truck traffic. The ordinance authorizes the city council by resolution to adopt a map indicating the streets from which truck traffic will be banned. Where the ordinance applies, trucks licensed for more than 35,000 pounds gross weight will be prohibited. Exceptions are provided for certain types of vehicles, including school buses, garbage and recycling trucks, emergency vehicles, agricultural equipment and vehicles involved in the construction, maintenance or repair of roads or utilities. Other trucks will be allowed on the designed road only to make local deliveries or pick ups and only with a permit issued by the city. Permits for travel on local roads will be issued only for the shortest practical distance to and from a truck route and the point of pick up or delivery. A copy of the complete ordinance is available from the city administrator -clerk at Medina city hall. ‘e, Chad M. Adams, City Administrator -Clerk BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.
