RESOLUTION NO. 19-9622
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, APPROVING A SEVEN
MONTH EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT AGREEMENT
WITH THE CITY ATTORNEY, THE BROWN LAW GROUP,
LLC; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of
the City to approve a seven month extension to the current agreement with the City
Attorney, The Brown Law Group, LLC.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference;
Section 2. The current agreement with the City Attorney, The Brown Law
Group, LLC, is hereby extended for seven months.
Section 3. The extension of the agreement may only be terminated after three
months for a release of liability and a payment of a four month severance.
On or before June 4, 2019, The Brown Law Group, LLC, shall transfer the
Office of the City attorney to the successor City Attorney as designated and
chosen by the City and The Brown Law Groups' retention as City Attorney
will terminate. The Brown Law Group, LLC., understands that there may be a
period of overlap where The Brown Law Group, LLC, and successor City
Attorney shall both be obligated to provide services to the City.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption, and
is subject to the approval of the Governor of the State of Florida or his designee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of March, 2019.
