CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2007-34
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING KEEGAN KELLY JOHNSON
FOR HIS EFFORTS IN RELATION TO A FIRE IN THE CITY OF MEDINA
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2007, at 1042 hours, the City of Medina Police
Department and the Long Lake Fire Department received a call of a fire in the kitchen at
2445 Morningside Road in the City of Medina; and
WHEREAS, Keegan Johnson, age 10, was home with his sister and babysitter
when a fire started in the oven of the family home; and
WHEREAS, Keegan Johnson had the courage and awareness to go out to the
garage and pick up an old fire extinguisher, tapping the extinguisher on the garage floor
to loosen up the active ingredient, returning into the kitchen, and putting the fire out with
the fire extinguisher; and
WHEREAS, Keegan Johnson saved property, and possibly, the lives of his sister
and babysitter in the action he took; and
WHEREAS, Keegan Johnson, by his actions, rendered the situation safe;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved That the Medina City Council does
hereby commend Keegan Johnson for his care and concern for the safety and wellbeing
of others; and, does also extend sincere appreciation to him on behalf of the Medina City
Council, Medina Police Department, and the Long Lake Fire Department, and the
citizens of this community.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Weir
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Crosby, Weir, Cavanaugh, Smith
and the following voted against same: (Absent: Johnson)
