HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-28-2010THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCOTOBER 28, 2010 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, October 28, 2010, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kim Vessels and Sergeant Brian Ervin. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel are present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the October 21, 2010 meeting. Flood moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment for October 29, 2010 in the amount of $313,778.57. She explained that of that total $510,780.36 was paid to PERF for retirement contributions from employer and employee; $26,615.22 was paid to Wayne County Treasurer for the City's portion of 9 -1 -1 salaries and benefits; $23,336.00 was paid to Rose View Transit for matching funds and $275,656 was paid to Milestone for Paving Phase 2. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. SIDEWALK ENCROACHMENT A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Sergeant Brian Ervin and submitted by Tim Lakoff from Lakoff Construction for the closure of portions of the sidewalk at 913 East Main Street, beginning on Friday, October 29, 2010 and ending approximately in four days to work on building facade. Flood moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes October 28, 2010 Page 2 of 3 CURB CUTS A. Robinson made a request to the board to approve a curb cut at 333 South 10th Street. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed B. Robinson made a request to the board to approve the curb cut at 339 South 10th Street. Flood moved to approve with a second by Lawson. C. Robinson brought to the board a request for 28 curb cuts on Whitewater Avenue. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Assistant City Attorney Kim Vessels for the approval of Contract No. 151 -2010 with Beam, Longest and Neff, LLC that is for professional services, specifically for crime prevention Board of Works Minutes October 28, 2010 Page 3 of 3 within Vaile Neighborhood and Springwood Park. Flood moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. BID OPENINGS A. Robinson brought to the board a bid opening for Gaarwood Road Drainage Improvements. Those bids are as follows: 1. CK Excavating - $15,000.00 2. Mike DeLucio & Son - $20,035.00 3. Pro Lawn Care - $13,733.00 4. Butler Excavating - $15,860.00 B. Robinson brought to the board a bid opening for Paved Ditch Project — Industries Road. Those bids are as follows: 1. CK Excavating - $19,328.00 2. Bolin Construction - $25,850.00 3. Pro Lawn Care - $29,650.00 4. Butler Excavating - $29,710.00 ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
