Member Martin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO. 2023-02
RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING CITY ATTORNEY RON BATTY
FOR 36 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF MEDINA
WHEREAS, City Attorney Ron Batty has provided years of public service to the Medina
community starting November 25, 1986; and
WHEREAS, throughout City Attorney Ron Batty’s service to the City of Medina several
significant projects have taken place including:
The Uptown Hamel Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment District and
infrastructure improvements;
Four decennial Comprehensive Plan reviews and updates;
Public Improvement Projects which allowed for the paving of streets throughout
the community;
Acquisition of land and financing for construction of the City’s water treatment
plant, and installation of several water supply wells and the raw water line;
Completion of numerous park developments and improvements including Hamel
Legion Park, the Park at the Fields of Medina, Hamel Community Building,
Hamel Field House, Medina Lake Preserve, Rainwater Nature Preserve, Tomann
Preserve, and acquisition of new park land at Chippewa Road/Mohawk Drive;
Guiding Medina with planning the renovations for the new Public Works/Police
Facility at 600 Clydesdale Trail; and
Creation of a Financial Management Plan and Road Improvement Funding
Policy;
New Commercial projects including approvals including Rockler, Twinco-
Romax, Polaris, Thorpe Distributing, Hennepin County Public Works, Medina
Clydesdale Marketplace, Hamel Station, Open Systems International, and
Wealshire;
Residential Developments including Foxberry Farms, Wild Meadows, Medina
Highlands, Medina Ridges, Bridgewater, The Enclave, Fields of Medina, Deer
Hill Preserve, Reserve of Medina, Villas at Medina Golf and Country Club,
Okalee Senior Housing, Marsh Pointe Preserve, and Weston Woods; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Batty braved the elements and assisted residents by unloading tons of
garbage at dozens of City Clean-Up Days and impressed City staff with his cooking skills after
winning the only City staff Chili Cookoff in which he took part; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Batty provided extraordinary counsel and guidance on general business
matters, public improvement projects and matters related to the efficient provision of services to
the City; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Batty has been a trusted member of the City’s staff team, contributing
to a positive workplace with his calm and reassuring demeanor, and has been a great mentor for
staff members throughout his tenure.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Medina acknowledges
and thanks City Attorney Ron Batty for his 36 years of service to the community.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Albers and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Albers, Cavanaugh, DesLauriers, Reid, Martin
And the following voted against same:
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
