WHEREAS, A 12" gravity main in the area of 1226 Sharar Avenue is in need of immediate repair; and WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the City's best interest to authorize the City Manager to take immediate action to effectuate the said; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference; Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to take immediate action to repair the 12" gravity main in the area of 1226 Sharar Avenue, by entering into an agreement with Hernandez Underground, for said services, in an amount not to exceed $27,500.00, and in a form that is acceptable to the City Attorney. Section 3. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re-lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk. Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption, and is subject to the approval of the Governor of the State of Florida or his designee. In this vicinity there are two gravity mains one 12" and the other 16". This request is being brought before the commission as an add-on item, at the April 10 Meeting. We are confident the problem is with the smaller main, since we are experiencing slower than normal flows between manholes The intent is to perform a point repair, in lieu of replacing the entire section of pipe between manholes, since this will be a costly venture. We have received three proposals for this repair and the intent is to go with the low bidder Hernandez Underground.
