THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
JANUARY 21, 2014
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in special session January 21, 2014 in the
Council Chambers in said City. Vice President Miller presided.
ROLL CALL:
Present were: Howard "Jack" Elstro, Kelley Cruse - Nicholson, Bruce Wissel, Clay Miller, Larry Parker,
Misty Hollis, Ron Oler and Phil Quinn.
Also in attendance were Walt Chidester, City Attorney; Sally Hutton, Mayor; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk;
Valerie Shafer, Wayne County Economic Development Corporation; James French, Richmond Power &
Light; Jack Alvey, Sr. Vice President of Generation, Indiana Municipal Power Agency; Allen Elder, Dan
Sawyer, Director of Operations, Wolverine/Stride Rite; Ronda Pope, Retired Senior Volunteer Program;
Tammy Glenn, Controller, Sue Roberson, Human Resources; Tony Foster, Metropolitan Development; Lt.
Donnie Benedict, Linda and Chief Kris Wolski, Major Mark Connery, Police Department; Battalion Chiefs
Jerry Purcell & Tim Brown; Lt. Tim Clark, Mike Seal, President Local 1408, Fire Department; Sergeant -at-
Arms; and, Media.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Mr. Parker opened the floor for nominations for the offices of President and Vice President of the
Richmond Common Council.
Ms. Hollis nominated Mr. Miller to serve as President, supported by Mr. Winget. Mr. Wissel moved to
close the nominations, supported by Mr. Winget. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion passed. Mr. Miller
was chosen by consensus to serve as President for 2014.
Mr. Miller nominated Mr. Oler to serve as Vice President, supported by Mr. Winget Ms. Hollis moved to
close the nominations, supported by Mr. Wissel. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion passed. Mr. Oler
was chosen by consensus to serve as Vice President for 2014.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business and a motion duly made, the meeting was adjourned.
