CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2007-58
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CITY OF INDEPENDENCE SANITARY SYSTEM
CONNECTION TO METROPOLITAN COUNCIL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City of Independence is requesting the Metropolitan Council
Environmental Services (MCES) Division to approve the connection of an additional 50 sanitary
sewer service units to the City of Medina Sewer System; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina has approved a second amendment to the
Medina/Independence/Greenfield Tri-City Agreement authorizing the City of Independence
connection of 50 additional units to the Medina Sewer System; and
WHEREAS, the Lake Independence Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)
Implementation Plan identifies the reduction of phosphorous loading to the lake from existing
Individual Sewage Treatment Systems as a responsibility of the cities of Independence and
Medina.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina,
that the City of Medina supports MCES approval of the additional 50 sanitary sewer service units to
the City of Medina Sewer System and finds the connection of units to be an environmental benefit
through the reduction of phosphorous loading to Lake Independence.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Weir and
upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Crosby, Smith, Weir, Johnson
and the following voted against same: (Absent: Cavanaugh)
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
