RESOLUTION NO. 19-9658
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ALLOCATE AT LEAST $30,000.00 IN FISCAL
2019-2020 BUDGET FOR THE PURCHASE OF A BUS FOR
THE "SENIORS ON THE MOVE" PROGRAM, AND TO
DEVELOP AN IMMEDIATE PLAN TO ADDRESS ITS
CURRENT TRANSPORTATION NEEDS; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Opa-locka currently does not have a bus or other
means of adequate transportation for the "Seniors on the Move" program; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the
City to allocate at least $30,000.00, in fiscal year 2019-2020 budget, for the purchase
of a bus for the "Seniors on the Move" program, and to develop an immediate plan
to address its current transportation needs by May 22, 2019 ; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. RECITALS ADOPTED The recitals to the preamble herein are
incorporated by reference;
Section 2. AUTHORIZATION. The City Commission hereby directs the City
Manager to allocate at least $30,000.00, in fiscal year 2019-2020 budget, for the
purchase of a bus for the "Seniors on the Move" program, and to develop an
immediate plan to address its current transportation needs by May 22, 2019.
Section 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be
renumbered or re-lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect
the intent may be authorized by the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee,
without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City
Clerk.

Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon adoption, and is subject to the approval of the Governor of the State of
Florida or his designee.

Short Title:
Resolution directing the City Manager to allocate $30,000 in fiscaly year 2019-2020 budget for the purchase
of a bus for the Seniors on the Move program.
Staff Summary:
There is a need for a liable means of transportation to transport the Seniors on their scheduled events. The
City currently have a bus for the seniors,however it is experiencing mechanical problems on the regular which
is causing the program not to operate on a regular due to the lack of a operational vehicle.
Proposed Action:
The City Manager will look into the possibility of allocating additional funding in the Parks&Recreation
Department budget for the purchase of a bus for the Seniors on the Move program.
