WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka is comprised, in part, of an active Senior Citizen population; and WHEREAS, to aid in the implementation of the City's Senior Citizen Program, transportation is needed to assist in transporting the residences to and from the Program activities; and WHEREAS, the City Commission recommends the City Manager pursue all necessary steps to purchase an used bus for the Seniors Program, for an amount not to exceed Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($16,000.00); NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. Staff Summary: The purpose of this request is for the purchase 2007 used 33 Passenger Shuttle Bus to be utilized in the parka and recreation department, the primary use will be for the transportation of senior residents, the transportation of aftercare children. Proposed Action: Staff recommends approval of this purchase of this equipment, this will greatly improve the transportation needs of the department. A 2019 Eldorado Aerotech 16 passenger, with two wheelchair positions (if wheelchairs are not being utilized, space can convert to standard seating). This unit is available under contract at a cost of$84,400, price will vary with final options. 2. A 2007 used 33 passenger bus that can serve the immediate needs of the Parks Department, until the new unit can be purchased; after which it can be utilized for our afterschool program. The cost of this unit is $16,000. Unfortunately this unit is not equipped for wheelchair transportation.
