HomeMy Public PortalAbout063-1998 - Allows a Police Officer to purchase his/her handgun upon retirement from RPDORDINANCE NO. 63-1998 A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A POLICE OFFICER TO PURCHASE HIS OR HER HANDGUN UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, it has been a long standing practice to permit police officers to purchase their handguns for one dollar upon their retirement from the City; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to continue this practice as one way of showing appreciation to police officers who have served the City. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that upon voluntary retirement from the Richmond City Police Department, a City Police Officer shall have the right to purchase his or her Department issued handgun from the City for the sum of one dollar. Passed and adopted this 22nd day of June, 1998, by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
