HomeMy Public PortalAbout2007-076 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 434Member Smith introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2007-76 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 434 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 434, an ordinance granting a non-exclusive electric franchise to Xcel Energy; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 434 is six pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 434 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 434. The ordinance establishes a non-exclusive franchise to construct, operate, repair and maintain in the City of Medina, Minnesota, an electric distribution system and transmission lines, including necessary poles, lines, fixtures and appurtenances, for the furnishing of electric energy to the City, its inhabitants, and others, and to use the public ways and public grounds of the City for such purposes. A copy of the complete ordinance is available from the city administrator -clerk at Medina city hall. Chad M. Adams, City Administrator -Clerk BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.
