Brewster All Citizens Access Committee Meeting
January 19 , 2018

Present : Claire Gradone , Denise Rego , Joan Carstanjen , Judy Miller , Roberta Murphy , Jim
O' Leary
Absent : Cindy Bingham , Selectmen liaison and Mary Haynes
Guest : Chris Miller
The meeting was called to order at 1 : 05 pm at the Brewster Police Department conference
room .
Secretary' s Report :
The minutes of the November 17th meeting was reviewed with 3 corrections . The board
voted unanimously to accept them .
Director' s Report :
Claire reported that she contacted Bob Miller regarding the change in plans for the COA 's
parking lot design . Bob didn 't know when and why the plans were changed with any notice
to the COA .
Mark O' Brien agreed for the installation of automatic door openers for the galley doors .
Playground at Stony Brook Elementary School - The Brewster Whitecaps have met with
the Planning Department regarding installation of new bleachers in the fan area with a
ramp to a raised platform , including paved pathways . An architect was hired to present
their proposal . Patricia Allen and Karen White have evaluated the playground and it is
accessible and up to code . There is still a drainage issues at the playground and Claire will
connect with Barry Schofield to see if a new surface is in the 5 year plan by the School
Committee .
Chris Miller stated that there is still $ 20 ,000 from FY17 for the Paines Creek project , for
a rollout mat and shed for a beach wheelchair .
We have another $ 20 ,000 . from FY18 budget for possible work at Drummer Boy Park's
pathways to be redone . Chris will connect with DPW to draft a plan for this project .
Joan gave Denise paperwork on " Green burial " and she will copy and distribute at our
February meeting .
Old Business/New Business :
Denise indicated that she has been the Committee's secretary for 5 years now and that
she will be stepping down from taking minutes at the end of June . Claire ask the other
committee members if anyone would be interested .
Jim stated that there is no cutaway in the circle in front of the Police Station . He asked
Claire to email Chief Moran to make sure this .won't be an issue in front of the new Fire
Station that is currently being built .
Other business not anticipated by the chair : None
Next meeting : February 16 , 2018 at 2pm at the Brewster Police Facility .
The meeting was adjourned at 1 : 35pm .
