HomeMy Public PortalAbout11/07/1984BEAUMONT PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 7, 1984 The Planning Commission met in a regular meeting on Wednesday, Novem- ber 7, 1984) in the City Council Chambers, with Chairman Berg pre- siding: 1. Call to Order at 7 :09 P.M. 2. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was observed. 3. The following Commissioners were present: Commissioners Shaw, Tapp, Medina, Remy, Thompson, Schuelke and Chairman Berg. Item No. 1: The Minutes of the Regular Planning Commission Meeting of October 16, 1984 were approved as submitted. Item No. 2: Proposed amendment to Title 17 (Zoning) revising the zoning ordinance in its entirety proposing new zoning classifications and land use re- gulations. Planning Director Larson presented the project analysis, and recommenda- tion on this item informing the Commission that the new proposed ordin- ance had been computerized; however, corrections had not been made. He explained that in its final form corrections, changes, etc. would be made; an index would be prepared outlining the sections in order for quick reference; a cover would be prepared in order to protect the pages. A draft copy was given to each of the Commissioners. Further, Mr. Larson advised commission that an addition on the second page of the staff re- port, end of paragraph 1 should read "or initiated by the City." Chairman Berg opened the public hearing at 7:10 P.M. and there being no one in the audience, he then closed the public hearing and the matter was turned back to the Commission for discussion. On motion by Commissioner Schuelke, seconded by Commissioner Remy to adopt Resolution PC -84 -1, recommending that City Council approve Negative Declaration 84 -ND -29 and approval of the proposed amendment to Title 17 of the Municipal Code with the following change made on Page 2, under 17.04.070 Commission, Paragraph 3, to read as follows: The Commission shall elect one member as chairman and one as vice chairman, to hold office at the pleasure of the members. Election of new officers shall be held at the first regular Planning Commission meeting each year. Four members shall be a quorm and a majority shall be required to carry a motion. The Commission shall hold at least one regular meeting per month. In addition, the Planning Commission requests that they be allowed to Planning Commission Meeting of November 7, 1984 Page 2 Further Business: Commissioner Thompson wanted to bring to the attention of the Commission that the bathroom doors are open on the old Douglas Station, located at 6th and Pennsylvania which has been abandoned for sometime. Feels an officer should investigate, and lock it up since people are apparently still using it. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:37 P.M.
