BEAUMONT PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 11 1995
Meeting called to Order at 6 :07 p.m.
Roll Call: Commissioners DePalatis, Moreno, Salinas and Chairman
Westcot. Commissioner Barker was absent.
Affidavit of Posting was read.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was observed.
At this time the meeting recessed, reconvening at 6 :17 p.m., and
Mr. Salinas was introduced and sworn in as a Planning Commissioner
for the City of Beaumont by Mayor Pro Tem Parrott for the
remainder of former Commissioner Harry Kirkland's term, expiring
December, 1996.
1. Approval of Minutes. On motion by Commissioner DePalatis,
seconded by Commissioner Moreno, to approve the minutes for
the Planning Commission meeting of June 6, 1995 with an
amendment on Page 4, Paragraph 7, after the word "Resolution"
insert the words "with the changes described above ". With this
insertion, motion carried with the following roll call vote:
AYES: Commissioners DePalatis, Moreno, Salinas and
Chairman Westcot.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Barker.
2. Oral Communication: None.
3. Director's Report:
Planning Director Egger informed the Commission that
McDonald's has informed the City that they are scheduled to
open on the 24th of July. Also, the City is getting
inquiries from other fast food operators about locations, so
it appears that McDonald's is kind of a stimulus for interest
among the other fast food restaurants. Mr. Egger further
noted that Smith's is incrementally making improvements to the
interior of their building and would possibly be opening
sometime before the end of the year.
PUBLIC HEARING:
4. Zone Change No. 95 -RZ -2, consideration of an Amendment of the
City of Beaumont Municipal Code to allow Bed and Breakfast
Inns in certain areas, subject to approval of a Conditional
Use Permit. Applicant, City Initiated.
Planning Director Egger presented the staff report, a copy of
which is on file in the Planning Department. Chairman Westcot
opened the public hearing and, as no one was present to speak,
closed the public hearing.

A motion was offered by Commissioner Moreno, seconded by
Commissioner DePalatis, recommending to the City Council
adoption of the proposed zoning ordinance amendment to
establish the Bed and Breakfast Overlay Zone. Motion carried
with the following roll call vote:
AYES: Commissioners DePalatis, Moreno, Salinas and
Chairman Westcot.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Barker.
There being no further items on the agenda, the meeting
adjourned at 7 :00 p.m.
