BEAUMONT PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 1, 1995
Meeting called to Order at 6:09 p.m.
Roll Call: Commissioners DePalatis, Salinas and Chairman Westcot.
Commissioner Barker was absent and excused.
Commission Moreno was absent.
Affidavit of Posting was read.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was observed.
1. Approval of Minutes. On motion by - Commissioner DePalatis,
seconded by Commissioner Salinas, to approve the minutes for
the Planning Commission meeting of July 11, 1995. All in
favor, motion carried.
2. Oral Communication: None.
3. Director's Report:
Planning Director Egger informed the Commission that
the moving of Banning Ace Hardware into Beaumont with a new
facility at Xenia and 6th Streets is scheduled to come
before the Commission next month. Also, the City Council did
adopt the Bed and Breakfast Ordinance at their last meeting.
SCHEDULED MATTER:
4. Considered at this time was a proposal by the Building
Industry Association to establish an off -site subdivision
directional sign program. Planning Director Egger presented
the staff report, a copy of which is on file in the Planning
Department.
Mr. Jeffrey P. Ashton, an employee of the BIA, addressed the
Planning Commission explaining their program, noting there
would be no cost to the City. This program would help keep
the City clean from "bootleg" signs and would provide an
outstanding means for developers to advertise their
subdivision. Mr. Ashton further explained that the signs
would all be the same and that the City would determine the
color scheme.
A motion was offered by Commissioner DePalatis, seconded by
Commissioner Salinas, with a recommendation of approval by
City Council of this program. Motion carried with the
following roll call vote:
AYES: Commissioners DePalatis, Salinas and Chairman
Westcot.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Commissioners Barker and Moreno.

adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
