CHARTER ORDINANCE No.L
A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS FROM
THE PROVISIONS OF KANSAS STATUTE ANNOTATED 25-2l08a (1981 Supp.)
AND AMENDMENTS THERETO AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE PROVISIONS ON THE
SAME SUBJECT.. RELATING TO THE TIME OF PRIMARY ELECTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BEL AIRE.. KANSAS:
Section 1. The City of Bel Aire, Kansas.. by the power vested in it by Article
l2,Seetion 15, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt
itself from and make inapplicable to it Kansas Statutes Annotated 25-2l08a (1981
Supp.) and amendments thereto, and provide a substitute prOV1S1on as herein set
forth in this ordinance. Such statutory section is not applicable uniformly
to all cities.
Section 2.
No primary election for city officals shall be held.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be published once each week for two (2)
consecutive weeks in the official newspaper.
Section 4. This is a Charter Ordinance and shall take effect sixty-one (61)
days after first publication unless a sufficient petition for a referendum is
filed with a referendum held on the ordinance as provided in Article 5.. Subdivision
(c) (3) of the Consitution of the State of Kansas, in which case the ordinance
shall become effective if approved by the majority of the electors voting thereon.
