HomeMy Public PortalAbout2008-078 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 452Member Weir introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2008-78 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 452 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 452, an ordinance amending the planned unit development for the Hennepin County public works facility; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes § 412.191, subdivision 4 allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the ordinance is 7 pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 452 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 452, an amendment to the Hennepin County public works facility planned unit development ("PUD") first approved in 1996. The amended PUD will permit the county to construct a wind energy conversion system ("WECS"), also known as a wind turbine, on the public works facility property. The WECS will generate up to 4.9 megawatts of electricity which will be sold to the local energy company and, in effect, used to offset the county's energy cost. The WECS will be located in the southwest quadrant of the county's property at T.H. 55 and Arrowhead Drive. The hub of the WECS will be 262 feet high and the maximum height of the rotors (blades) will not to exceed 410 feet high. Operation of the WECS will be subject to setbacks, noise limitations and other environmental standards. The full text of Ordinance No. 452 is available from the city administrator -clerk at Medina city hall during regular business hours. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.
