MEMORANDUM DATE: September 5, 2017 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Bryan Cook , City Manager 11 Dx By: Cathy Burroughs , Director of Parks and Recreation IJ{(/ SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF AUGUST 16, 2017 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Comm ission actions from their meeting of August 16, 2017. BACKGROUND: On August 16 , 2017, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the August 16, 2017 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Georgina , Rosso , Vance , Vice-Chairman Haddad, Chairman Baroldi Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner -None 2 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the July 19 , 2017 meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for July 2017 . City Council September 5, 2017 Page 2 of 2 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A . SENIOR MASTER PLAN UPDATE The Parks and Recreation Commission received an update on the Senior Master Plan process from ad hoc committee members Georgina and Rosso. 4 . NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION {TCASA) FOR RESERVED USE OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR FALL PRACTICES FROM AUGUST 17-NOVEMBER 30 , 2017 The Commission approved the request. B. SUMMARY OF FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 SPECIAL EVENTS The Commission received an overview and summary of 2016-17 co mmunity special events. 5. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for August 2017. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Approval of the Commission actions of August 16, 2017 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18 City Budget.
