Home My Public Portal About074-1998 - Authorizes renewal of the Enterprise Zone for 5 yearsORDINANCE NO. 74-1998 A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE REQUEST OF THE URBAN ENTERPRISE ASSOCIATION OF RICHMOND, INC., TO SUBMIT A RENEWAL APPLICATION OF THE ENTERPRISE ZONE FOR ANOTHER FIVE (5) YEARS EXTENDING THE BENEFTIS OF THE ZONE TO RICHMOND BUSINESSES UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2003 WHEREAS, the Urban Enterprise Association of Richmond, Inc., intends to Apply to the State Urban Enterprise Zone Board for the extension of the Urban Enterprise Zone for a period of five (5) years. Continue to promote the community economic development needs, and Act as a liaison between businesses, residents, the City of Richmond, and State Enterprise Zone Board for any development activities that may affect the Richmond Enterprise Zone (“Zone”) or residents of the Zone; and WHEREAS, the Urban Enterprise Association of Richmond, Inc., has been in existence since January 1, 1983, and has functioned within the City of Richmond boundaries for the Zone to stimulate economic development, aid existing businesses, work with and support the Neighborhood Clearinghouse and the Main Street Richmond/Wayne County program to improve the physical, social, and business environment in the Zone; and WHEREAS, the present term duration for the Richmond Enterprise Association of Richmond, Inc. will end on December 31, 1998. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana that the City of Richmond, acting through the Urban Enterprise Association of Richmond, Inc., request the State Urban Enterprise Zone Board to extend the Richmond Enterprise Zone for an additional five years to, and including, December 31, 2003.
