SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
AUGUST 30, 2017
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Sternquist called the Special Meeting to order at 7:01 a.m.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Councilmember—Chavez, Man, Sternquist
ABSENT: Councilmember — Fish. Yu
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Cook, Senior Community Preservation Officer
Tran, Community Development Director Forbes and Public
Safety Supervisor Ariizumi
Captain Flores, Sergeant Miranda, Deputy Adams, Deputy
Lam, Deputy Zuniga and Deputy Harrington

5. NEW BUSINESS
A. OVERVIEW OF TEMPLE STATION VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Deputy Harrington gave an overview of the Temple Station Volunteer Program.
6. COMMUNICATIONS
A. QUALITY OF LIFE
Sergeant Miranda provided a brief overview of the number of sex offender
registrants, parolees, and probationers in the City.
B. OPERATIONS
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding arrests and operations in the
City.
Councilmember Chavez and Mayor Sternquist spoke on possibly creating an
Ah Hoc Committee to address firework concerns.
C. CRIME TRENDS
Sergeant Miranda provided an overview of crime trends in neighboring cities
affecting Temple City.

Sergeant Miranda reported on the public outreach conducted by the special
assignment team.
UPCOMING EVENTS FOR SEPTEMBER 2017
Sergeant Miranda announced upcoming meetings and events that will be
conducted in the City.
