SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF
OCTOBER 18, 2017
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of October 18, 2017.
BACKGROUND:
On October 18, 2017, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly
scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the October 18, 2017 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:

2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the September
20, 2017 meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for September 2017.

3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. SENIOR MASTER PLAN UPDATE
The Parks and Recreation Commission received an update on the Senior
Master Plan process from Commissioner Georgina.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE FOR
AUTHORIZATION TO HANG A BANNER AT LIVE OAK PARK TO
PUBLICIZE REGISTRATION FOR THEIR 2018 SEASON
The Commission approved the request.
B. CONSIDERATION OF AN OAK TREE PROTECTION ORDINANCE
After receiving a report from staff and hearing from the public the
Commission received and filed the report, taking no further action on this
item.
C. DISCUSSION REGARDING LIVE OAK PARK TENNIS COURT USE
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND ONGOING USE OF VARIOUS AREAS
OF LIVE OAK PARK AND TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR EXERCISE AND
DANCE GROUPS
The Commission referred this item to the Facility Rental Policies and
Procedures Ad Hoc Committee and directed staff to schedule meetings with
the Ad Hoc Committee to develop recommendations as deemed appropriate.
5. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for
October 2017.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Approval of the Commission actions of October 18, 2017 furthers the City's Strategic
Goal of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18 City Budget.
