Seton Lindsay Commissioner Stewart B. Iglehart Commissioner Henry V. Pope Commissioner William F. Koch, Jr. Town Clerk J. R. Fountain The minutes of the Town Commission meeting held on April 14, 1956 were adopted and approved as read. Town Clerk, J. R. Fountain, reported bank balances as of April 30, 1956 as follows: General Fund 142567.25 Water Fund ,192.09 Depreciation Fund 2,486.55 Payments from the Water Fund were on checks 64 through 67 and totaled $ 4,501.96. Payments from the General Fund were on checks numbered 2254 through 2288 and totaled $ 22246.04. All of the above payments were unanimously approved. Mayor Lindsay read a proposed resolution numbered W and entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, SEEKING FAVURABLE CON- SIDERATION OF THE COUNTY COMMISSION OF PALM BEACH COUNTY TU CONVEY TO DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AND BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS JOINT TENANTS, WITHOUT MONETARY PAYMENT, CERTAIN COUNTY LANDS OWNED IN THE VICINITY OF BOTH CITIES TO BE USED JOINTLY BY BOTH CITIES FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES. After a discussion by Commissioners William Koch, Stewart Iglehart, Henry Pope and Mayor Lindsay as to including a statement in the resolution that the Town of Gulf Stream will not be obligated to contribute now or in the future to the upkeep of the proposed park, a motion was made by Mr. Koch and seconded by Mayor Lindsay that the resolution be adopted. The motion carried unanimously. The Commissioners studied the tentative plans for the proposed co- operative apartment building named, "The WestmintsterU Mr.Iglehart agreed to explain to the architects the requested changes of the Commissioners. Commissioner Pope said he anticipated the immediate development of Gulf Stream Cove. He requested permission to burn the trash at the west end of Gulf View Drive. Permission was granted, provided he first get official authorization from J. R. Fountain and Roy Cowart. Commissioner Pope told of his plan for filling the low -swamp bog known as the "Old Royal Palm Nursery." He offered to fill the hole Page 2. on the Town property just to the west of Town Hall at an approximate. cost of 25 cents per yard. After a motion by Mayor Lindsay and Mr.Iglehart's second they voted unanim- ously to accept Mr. Po.pe's offer. Ali the commissioners voiced their regretof the untimely death of formerCommissioner -Town C1erk,William J.Bauer. Each of the Commissioners paid tribute to Mr. Bauer for his many years of srrvice to the Town and to the residents of Gulf Stream. Mayor Lindsay reported that he attended the funeral service and stated tha6 he was pleased that so many people attended. All the Commissioners requested that J.R.Fountain extend their sympathy and kindest personal regards to Mrs. William J. Bauer, and to extend to her theirhope that she finds a new peace in her time of sorrow. IA6/ Mayor Lindsay proposed the following resolution; # AW. WHEREAS, MR. CHARLES L. LANGLOTZ HAS GIVEN OF HIS TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY TO ATTEND THE ANTI #MOSQUITO ASSOCIATION MEETING, AND TO STUDY MANY TECHNICAL BOOKS AND PAPERS, AND TALK WITH MANY OF THE STATE OFFICIALS AND WORKERS, AND HAS PREPARED A MOST COMPLETE REPORT AND A FURTHER SUBSIDERARY REPORT, AND HAS BECOME AND AUTHORITY IN HIS OWN RIGHT IN THE FIELD OF MOSQUITO CONTROL, THAT THE TOWN COMMISSION EXTEND TO HIM THEIR UNANIMOUS VOTE OF GRATITUDE; WHEREAS, MR. CHARLES L. LANGLOTZ REPORTS ARE IMPORTANT AND THAT MR. LANGLOTZ BE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO PRESENT THE AFOREMENTIONED REPORTS TO THE ACTING PRESIDENT OF THE GULF STREAM CIVIC ASSOCIATION, MR. WILLIAM LAPORTE, WITH THE REQUEST THAT MR. LANGLOTZ SECURE THE AID OF THE GULF STREAM CIVIC ASSOCIATION IN DECIDING WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CURB THE MOSQUITO MENACE. Mr. Koch seconded and the resolution was approved and adopted unanimously. There being no further business, the Meeting was adjourned. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, SEEKING FAVORABLE CONSIDERATION OF THE COUNTY COMMISSION OF PALM BEACH COUNTY TO CONVEY TO DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AND BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS JOINT TENAN`T'S, WITHOUT MONETARY PAYMENT, CERTAIN COUNTY LANDS OWNED IN THE VICINITY OF BOTH CITIES TO BE USED JOINTLY BY BOTH CITIES FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach, Florida, and the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, are municipal corporations in South Palm Beach County, and WHEREAS, the contemplated growth and development of said cities will require additional public lands to be used for public parks, and WHEREAS, the County of Palm Beach owns certain un- developed land in the vicinity of said cities, a part of which could be advantageously used for such park area, said parcel being described as follows, to -wit: That part of Section 51 Township 46 South, Range 43 East lying West of the Seaboard Airline Railway right -of- way, excepting therefrom the West one- quarter of said Section 5. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, that said Commission re- quests the Honorable Board of Palm Beach County Commissioners to convey to the City of Delray Beach, Florida, and the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, as joint tenants, without cost to the said cities, the above described property to be used by said cities as a park. Inasmuch as the land involved is not contiguous to the Town of Gulf Stream, and further, inasmuch as the Town of Gulf Stream does not intend to contribute any funds for the develop- ment or upkeep of the proposed park, the Town Commissioners of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida do not wish to express any opin- ion, as to the desirability of utilizing a part of the proposed park for an air- strip.
